Elastic Scattering of Halo Nuclei
نویسندگان
چکیده
We show that under certain conditions a simple relationship exists between the elastic scattering of a composite halo nucleus and of its core from a stable target. The coupling of the elastic and projectile excitation channels is crucial to the analysis, which is particularly useful when the ratio of the halo to the core mass is small. In the case of Be elastic scattering the cross section relationship is quite well satisfied. For both Be and C our analysis reveals a significant sensitivity of elastic scattering data to the halo size and structure. [S0031-9007(97)03995-1]

Analytical potential for the elastic scattering of light halo nuclei in the Coulomb field of heavy targets
Light halo nuclei are exotic and weakly-bound systems that have attracted much interest during the past decades [1]. In particular neutron-rich nuclei near the dripline provide a new path for studying nuclear matter and correlations at low densities. In these nuclei, the halo is often formed by one or several loosely attached (valence) neutrons with binding energies of less than 1 MeV and with ...

Ground state properties of neutron rich even-even Be and C nuclei have been investigated using Relativistic Mean Field approach in co-ordinate space. The positions of the neutron drip line are correctly predicted for both the elements. The nucleus Be shows a two neutron halo but, contrary to expectation, C does not exhibit any halo structure. In carbon nuclei, N=16 comes out as a new magic numb...

The construction of microscopic reaction theory is one of the most important subjects in nuclear physics. It is a goal of the nuclear reaction theory. Furthermore, the construction is essential for many applications. Particularly for the scattering of unstable nuclei, there is no reliable phenomenological optical potential, since measurements of the elastic scattering are not easy. An important...

Abstract Theories of reactions of composite nuclei simplify considerably at energies of several 100 MeV/nucleon. Here Glauber methods provide a quantitative microscopic framework with a clear delineation of nucleon-nucleon scattering and nuclear structure inputs. However further approximations, tested for stable nuclei, are inappropriate for few-body halo nuclei with implications for analyses o...

Universal aspects of few-body systems will be reviewed motivated by recent interest in atomic and nuclear physics. The critical conditions for the existence of excited states in three-body systems with two-identical particles will be explored. In particular, we consider halo nuclei that can be modeled as three-body nuclear systems, with two halo neutrons and a core. In this context, we also dis...
